At the annual Dr. Barry Rankin Sunday at CTU on God’s Creation, CTU will feature a lecture by Br. Guy Consolmagno, SJ, Director of the Vatican Observatory.
Humanity’s robots have visited every planet in the solar system; humans have even walked on the Moon. And so far we have discovered thousands of planets around other stars. All those other planets, and all the stars they orbit, are part of the same universe created by God. They present a glorious opportunity for us to come to grips with what it means to be a creature… and to appreciate the words of the Psalmist: When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established; what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them? Yet you have made them a little lower than God, and crowned them with glory and honor.
