The contributions of the women to the mission and growth of the Church are understated. If Not for the Women, engages the role of women in the Salvation story of the Christian movement supported by scripture and historical narratives. The cultural context of the role of Black women in the evangelization mission of Kingdom building is explored.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Dr. Lewis-Mosley is a Professional Registered Nurse with a BSN from Boston College. She is retired from New York Hospital- Weill Cornell University Medical Center. She has a Health Law Specialty, Master of Juris Prudence from Seton Hall University Law School; Doctor of Ministry Degree – Healing Mind Body Spirit- Drew University Theological School. She is a Lay Associate Order of Preachers-Caldwell Dominicans. Dr. Lewis-Mosley is an Aquinas Institute of Theology- Delaplane Preaching Scholar member of the 2022 Writing Cohort. She is a contributing author to several Publications: Preaching Racial Justice., Religion, Women of Color, and the Suffrage Movement: The Journey of Holistic Freedom. “Does Christian Catechesis Have a Gender Problem?” She is a parishioner at the Church of Christ the King, Jersey City, a historical Black Catholic Parish for the Apostolate to the African American Community. She and her husband of twenty-seven years Mr. Eugene Mosley serve the parish of Christ the King in various ministries.

ABOUT THE TOLTON LECTURE:

The purpose of the Tolton Lecture is to recognize and acknowledge Black Catholic theological/historical and cultural scholarship and to provide an arena for the sharing of this research and scholarship with the community at Catholic Theological Union as well as the broader Church. This lecture is sponsored by the Augustus Tolton Pastoral Ministry Program, which offers scholarships for graduate degrees and provides spiritual and ministerial formation for those lay Black Catholics preparing for leadership in the Archdiocese of Chicago.
