About the Awardee and Speaker:  Sr. Helen Prejean, C.S.J. received the Cardinal Joseph Bernardin Award for her contributions in the Ministry Against the Death Penalty, while John Carr, of the Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life at Georgetown University, lectured on the topic:  "Faithful Citizenship in 2016:  Is There Common Ground to Pursue the Common Good?"  This video was recorded live on June 24th, 2016 at The Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago.

Within this podcast, Rev. Thomas Nairn, OFM, PhD, Senior Director of Theology & Ethics at the Catholic Health Association of the United States, speaks on the topic of the late Joseph Cardinal Bernardin's Consistent Ethic of Life.  This lecture was held on October 12, 2016 and was sponsored by The Bernardin Center for Theology and Ministry as it commemorates the 20th Anniversary of the Death of Cardinal Bernardin throughout this academic year.

CTU alumna Sr. Luma Khudher, OP, gives a firsthand account of “The Situation of Christians in Iraq: Struggle and Hope.”  Though Christians in Iraq are considered to be one of the oldest continuous Christian communities in the world, reports note that hundreds of ancient Christian churches and places of worship have been destroyed by the self-proclaimed Islamic State throughout Iraq and Syria.  Millions have been forced to flee as refugees, and entire groups have been killed. Large Christian communities have also been emptied, putting an end to thousands of years of history.
