Migrant
Issues
Migration has been an
ever-present world-wide phenomenon. Far from being simple, it is a complex
reality, with significant economic, socio-political, cultural and religious
repercussions, for migrants, their native countries, and the host societies.
Migration has been the subject of research in different disciplines, primarily
sociology, anthropology, political science, and economics. Recently it has also
engaged the attention of social ethicists and systematic theologians. In this
workshop we will look at the phenomenon of migration, particularly at the US
context of immigration, as a source for theological reflection, dealing with
questions such as: What is God telling us through migration? What migration and
migrants tell us about God? What do migration and migrants say about the nature
of human beings? What are the migrants teaching to the Church? What insights and
lights does our Christian Tradition have to offer to the US context of
immigration?

Presenter: Ivonei Fabiano
